Security Wallet Custody

Your crypto is held in an air-gapped cold storage wallet provided by Zodia, a professional custody solution. Each Vield customer has a unique wallet address where their Bitcoin or Ethereum is stored for the duration of their loan.

No Rehypothecation

Vield does not rehypothecate your assets.

Rehypothecation means lending out or using your collateral for other purposes. Some financial institutions rehypothecate customer assets to generate additional revenue, but this creates risk.

Vield's commitment:

  • Your crypto stays in your dedicated wallet
  • We do not lend your crypto to others
  • We do not use your assets for trading or investment
  • Your collateral serves only as security for your loan

No Co-Mingling of Assets

Vield does not co-mingle customer assets.

Co-mingling means combining multiple customers' assets in a single wallet or pool. This makes it difficult to track individual ownership and creates risk if there's a security breach or custody dispute.

Vield's approach:

  • Each customer has a unique, separate wallet address
  • Your assets are never mixed with other customers' crypto
  • Clear ownership record maintained at all times
  • Full auditability on the blockchain

Ownership and Control

During Your Loan:

  • Legal ownership: The crypto remains legally yours
  • Security interest: Vield holds a security interest under the Personal Property Securities Act (PPSA)
  • Access: You cannot move or transfer the crypto until the loan is repaid
  • Tracking: You can verify your assets remain in your wallet via blockchain explorer

Vield Takes Ownership Only If:

  • You are in default (as defined in your loan agreement)

You have been given the required time to remedy the default (typically 30 days) and the loan remains outstanding

Insurance Protection

Your assets held in custody are protected by Zodia Custody's comprehensive insurance coverage.

Coverage Includes:

  • Digital Assets Crime & Professional Indemnity: Up to USD $12M for crime, USD $10M for professional indemnity
  • Digital Assets Custody Insurance: Up to USD $100M
  • Cyber Security Insurance: Up to USD $200M

Protected Events:

  • Theft or hacking of digital assets
  • Employee theft or fraud
  • Social engineering attacks
  • Key loss or unauthorized access
  • Physical damage to storage media
  • Cyberattacks and data breaches

Important: This insurance is provided at no additional cost to you and is included in your custody fees. The insurance applies to all Vield clients collectively.

Blockchain Transparency

You can verify your assets at any time:

  • View your wallet address: In the Vield app or web portal
  • Track on blockchain: Use any public blockchain explorer (e.g., Etherscan for ETH, Blockchain.com for BTC)
  • Verify balance: Confirm your crypto remains in your dedicated wallet
  • Check transactions: View all deposits and withdrawals

Retrieving Your Assets

Upon Full Loan Repayment:

  • Provide your personal crypto wallet address
  • Vield transfers your crypto within 2 business days
  • You are responsible for providing the correct wallet address
  • Vield is not liable for losses due to incorrect wallet addresses

Important: Double-check your wallet address before submitting. Crypto transactions are irreversible.

Security Best Practices

For Your Account:

  • Use a strong, unique password
  • Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) if available
  • Never share your login credentials
  • Be wary of phishing attempts
  • Always verify you're on the official Vield website

For Your Crypto Wallet:

  • Store private keys securely offline
  • Use hardware wallets for large holdings
  • Never store keys on internet-connected devices
  • Verify wallet addresses carefully before any transfer
